Preparing for Sunday
This Sunday, we’ll hear from God’s Word in the 3rd Chapter of Jonah. After reading through Chapter 3, please ask yourself: What are some possible reasons God would have recorded so many details about Nineveh’s repentance? And if you want to try a fun activity: Compare how Jonah responded in Chapter 2 to God’s judgment to how the Ninevites responded in Chapter 3 to the announcement of God’s judgment.
For the kids listening to a keyword, "Nineveh" is a good place to start this week. And, if you don’t think they know what repentance is, try to talk them through that concept before service.

Communion, but lunch is canceled. This Sunday, we’ll remember Jesus’ death in our place by partaking of the Lord’s Supper. Please do not partake of the Lord’s Supper if you are not a believer walking in obedience to Him.
Due to the hurricane/tropical storm scheduled to hit Southern California, we decided to cancel communion lunch due to the forecasted impact.
Sunday Pre-Service Prayer. Please join us on Sunday mornings from 8:15–8:45am in the Upper Room (except for Sundays when we have Church-Wide Prayer during Equipping Hour).
Men’s Breakfast. Saturday, August 26th, 7:30 a.m. Ed Gonzales will be leading a discussion on the topic “Being Responsible for Your Spiritual Life.” Breakfast will be provided by Jim Bitong. All men are welcome!
The Alaska STM team will be having a virtual meeting on August 24th at 8:30 p.m. for anyone interested in learning more about the trip, after our time this Sunday during Equipping Hour. This is a chance to hear more detailed accounts of the trip from our team (as we'll be mainly hitting highlights on Sunday), hear details from the family's perspectives, and a chance for Q&A; so think of questions after hearing from us this Sunday! All are welcome to join the meeting!”.

Ministry Highlight: Set-Up Team. This behind-the-scenes ministry exists to serve the saints so that they can hear from God in HIs Word and encourage one another. Among other responsibilities, the team sets up and tears down the tents, tables, overflow seating, outdoor speakers and television and the monthly lunch tables and tents. Cornerstone Bible Institute. Returns on Wednesday, September 6th at 7 p.m!
Membership Class, September 10th. If you are curious about membership at CBC, don’t miss the first week of our membership class with Pastor Joshua! Anyone is welcome.
