The NBA playoffs. Our child’s school play. A project we need to complete for work. Social media. Things we need to fix around the house. Family get-togethers.
We’ve all got a million things calling for our attention.
In Isaiah 42:1, God says "pay attention to my Son Jesus."
Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights.
This Sunday we want to gather together to do just that. We are going to work together to study Luke 4 and concentrate on what it teaches us about Jesus.
Why?
With so many different things to think about, why should we pay such close attention to Jesus?
One reason is that God the Father delights in Him. As humans we are not always great at knowing what is amazing, but God knows what is truly valuable, and He finds great pleasure in Jesus. So please be praying God helps us see what is so wonderful about Him as we gather together this weekend.
In particular we are going to be talking about the miracles of Jesus and asking whether or not our ministry should be characterized by the same kind of miracles He performed.
Come ready to worship! Come expecting God to speak to you through His Word! And, come praying that God would change you as a result!

I’ve included some things in the sermon brief document that I think will help you and your children benefit from the message this Sunday. Check them out. Print out what’s helpful. Or perhaps you can come up with a better plan yourself. For the younger children this Sunday, you can have them listen for the word, “miracles.” To encourage them, Marda will have some treats afterward.
We have started a question and answer podcast that we hope you will find helpful. Check it out here. If you have any questions you would like the pastors here at CBC to discuss, please contact us.
I’m working on some short “podcasts” on marriage and family. You can find them here.
If you want to grow in hearing from God in His Word, don’t miss this six-week class designed to help you engage with God’s Word! (Previous weeks can be found here.)
