The world is really confused.
This week we have been reminded of that in a big way. It’s Mother’s Day and yet we have people passionately arguing that mothers should be allowed to kill their own children.
What?
Now, we are so glad we serve a God who forgives sin, a God who sends His Son to die for real sinners. There’s grace and hope for those who repent.
But we grieve for those who don’t.
We grieve for a lot of reasons, but one reason is that being a mom is a gift. It’s a privilege.
And yet we know, it also can be hard. Even as Christians!
When you become a believer, it’s like, God turns on the lights. He’s so kind. There’s a lot we know now that we are believers that we didn’t before. Some things seem obvious that weren’t before. But still, there’s so much we need to learn.
Parenting makes that obvious.
We pray that God would give us children. He does. And then, we don’t know what to do! How are we supposed to respond when they get angry? What do we do when they won’t listen? We have a million questions.
We are going to look at Proverbs this Sunday and talk about one key to parenting effectively. I titled the sermon: “Momming” Well. But don’t worry if you are not a mom or even a parent, because the reality is, I am basically just talking about one essential key to being good at living life.
Come ready to worship! Come expecting God to speak to you through His Word! And, come praying that God would change you as a result!

I’ve included some things in the sermon brief document that I think will help you and your children benefit from the message this Sunday. Check them out. Print out what’s helpful. Or perhaps you can come up with a better plan yourself. For the younger children this Sunday, you can have them listen for the word, “wise.” To encourage them, Marda will have some treats afterward.
We have started a question and answer podcast that we hope you will find helpful. Check it out on YouTube or here. If you have any questions you would like the pastors here at CBC to discuss, please go here. I’m working on some short “podcasts” on marriage and family—you can find them here or here.
This Sunday at 9am is our last week in our series on Enjoying God’s Word series—though the pastors are always eager to meet and help you learn to read God’s Word! For this Sunday, please read chapter 9 of Before You Open Your Bible and come ready to share a favorite verse from Psalm 119:81-112.
In our next Equipping Hour class, we want to prepare you to be ready to tell the Gospel whenever you have a listening year… including to those who’ve never been to church! This class will have some simple memorization work, outside listening, and light reading. Please contact us so we can get resources for participants. For interested youth, please individually register. Class begins May 29th at 9 a.m.
(This is a great way to get ready for summer outreach and mission trips!)
